Cherokee language.

We are visiting some of the Cherokee sights today, the pictures are of an American Indian who invented a written language for his nation he was so successful;l the population learned it in less than three years... It was a cool place with a guy telling us how to spell our names in Cherokee...

Very windy today so didnt cover many miles we should be in Texas tomorrow....

Oklahoma

Arrival in Oklahoma today means we are getting into the Great plains, the temperature today reached 40c, even with all te vents open and only wearing our Draggin Jeans we were overheating. We had to stop every hour to find shade and drink fluids. 320 miles today.

The mile stone

Memphis is the mile stone, and we made it today. We are currently in Memphis City, were everyone seems to carry a gun. We have been advised to stay away from some places which we will. In fact we have just moved hotels because it was very dodgy, not to mention the wall mounted bed headboard fell on Taz's head. We are just getting a part for the 1200 and then we are outta here!

We went to a cool outfitters that sells everything from boats to guns and the guys in there were fantastic and let us try out the pistols for weight...

We mangaged to get on the interstate and cover some miles, lots of people here are trying to get back to normal after the storms.

Memphis Blues

I'v got those bad weather blues. ba bub ba bub bum... Guitar plays the blues in the distance...

In the heart of the blues and Elvis country we hide out in cheap motels waiting for nature to allow us to pass. All roads in our intended direction are flooded.I lay here watching the Weather Channel. This time there is very little near us to keep us occupied so its TV, we have just had notification that we are in a flood watch, so while Taz sleeps I pack all our kit in the room incase we have to make a quick escape, Its raining heavy and thunder mumbles in the distance. Its going to be a long night, 1am now. Forecast for tomorrow is good, lets hope we can get past the major flooded areas..

Smokey Mountains

We continued heading south west, the smokey mountains were calling and we had urges to vist the Cherokee Reserve, the road was outstanding, long sweeping bends designed by nature just for us who risk life and limb on the metal mules.. On arriving in the reserve we bumped into this guy Tony Walkingstick an interesting chap.

Tonight we are staying in the Cherokee Inn, whilst warnings of heavy rain and tornado coming our way we mange to get skype sorted and spoke to Marlon; if any of you are on skype our name is johntaz.dixon we are often on late due to the time difference but feel free to drop us a message.

White Top

Te day before we got there they had four inches of snow i gues that why they call it White Top

Sun out...

The morning brought a frost, but within a few hours the sun was up and we felt the Virginian spring at its best 21 c and we started to loose our warm jackets. We drove for a few hours out of town and into more picturesque places, quant little townships all with their local elections for mayor and sheriff in mid flow, there pristine lawns abound with VOTE FOR joe for MAYOR etc. We were supprised at the number of churches all different types some across the road from each other. I wonder if theey argue who's church is the best.....????
